Is Justin Trudeau an imposter?
That’s the question Paul Wells probes in this week’s issue of Maclean’s.
I’ve been wondering the same thing.
I’m too contrarian to pick a political side even though I tilt progressive. But Trudeau was the antidote to years of conservative rule. We needed him. Even if I found his showmanship a bit much.
The past few weeks (or was it months?) have unwound my personal narrative. I won’t investigate this SNC Lavalin thing beyond scanning the headlines of the scrolling news feed. My time is better spent elsewhere. I suspect most Canadians are the same.
But now our shiny symbolic leader is tarnished. That’s OK. We shouldn’t expect politicians to be better than us. I hope Justin finds a way to turn this around. Each of us has moments in life where we can correct our behaviour.
This is Trudeau’s chance to steer us in the direction he promised.
